DPF By-Pass Detection for Failed Filters

This filter has lost its Particulate Matter (PM) retention capability.  This will require a replacement Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).

Continued operation would compromise the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system installed on diesel vehicles to reduce harmful Nitrous Oxide (NOx) emissions.

It works by injection an automotive grade urea, or Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) through a specially designed catalyst, into the exhaust stream of a diesel engine.

The FSX Complete Cleaning System

Patented, Proven Cleaning

  • The FSX DPF Complete Cleaning System™ is the world’s most advanced cleaning system recommended by major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Stage 1:
    • The FSX TrapTester™ Airflow Test Bench is calibrated specifically for precision baseline measurement of air flow in your DPF and DOC.
  • Stage 2:
    • The FSX TrapBlaster™ Pneumatic Cleaner's patented, proven AirKnife™ Scanning Technology blows air from opposite directions—examining the entire surface of the filter while cleaning every cell—removing an average 95% of the ash.
    • The FSX SootSucker™ Dust Collector then captures diesel particulate released during cleaning. Up to one quart of unburnable ash can be lodged in a clogged DPF / DOC! All by-products are recycled.
  • Stage 3:
    • Filters requiring additional cleaning will be baked for nine hours in the FSX TrapBurner™ Thermal Cleaner, fracturing the ash for a second pneumatic cleaning.
  • Stage 4:
    • Your filter returns to the TrapTester™ Airflow Test Bench for final inspection and documentation of your DPF/ DOC's  efficiency level after cleaning.

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Filter Cleaning Services

DPFilterFix has been successful in cleaning SCRs

  1. A faulty Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) dosing module. A common problem we see is the white caked powder residue that builds up over time in the SCR, clogging it and throwing codes.

  • Check your outlet NOx sensor! The DEF dosing module's function is based on what the Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) sensors are reading, and a calculation is done on how much DEF fluid should be injected / sprayed on the exhaust.
  • The DEF dosing module is a unit that includes both a pump and a spray nozzle and is responsible to spray the DEF fluid on the exhaust between the DPF and SCR.  Typically, 24" - 30" of exhaust tube is required, including mixing baffles to ensure the DEF fluid is properly mixed with the exhaust, and the desired reaction occurs.
  • If faulty, it may underdose or overdose the amount of DEF and create problems downstream in the SCR.
  • COOLANT SOAKED SCRs SCRs that are soaked with coolants or oil are sometimes unrecoverable. These catastrophic events can render the unit "Inactive" or "Poisoned," preventing the unit from performing its Selective Catalytic Reduction.
  • SCRs can wear out and deactivate.  Manufacturers suggest that this can occur in as few as 600,000 - 800,000 miles. Analogy: Even with care, good tires can wear out.

Cleaner DPF = Longer Filter Life

Why Clean Your DPF?

  • Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) are expensive emissions devices installed on all over-the-road  diesel engines manufactured beginning in 2007.
  • DPFs are designed to burn soot. Unburnable ash, a by-product of your engine oil, gradually collects in the filter causing excessive back pressure, potentially damaging your turbo charger and engine.

Failure to service your DPF can cause the following problems:

  1. DPF failure (requiring replacement)
  2. Unscheduled downtime
  3. Lower fuel economy
  4. Reduced engine life due to excessive high-temperature regenerations

  • DPFilterFIX can service your DPF at a fraction of the cost of a new filter.
  • DPFilterFIX’s high-quality cleaning is essential for maximum filter life. When filter recovery is not possible, we can provide a new filter choice to meet your budget.

When to Clean Your DPF?

  • Most engine manufacturers recommend removing the DPF for cleaning at regular intervals, especially if your vehicle does not have DPF warning lights!
  • Research and testing has found that hardening ash can cause filters to reach full capacity as early as 50,000 miles. Once ash hardens it can cause cracking and permanent damage.

DPFilterFIX - Clean & Compliant!

It's not a matter of IF, it's a matter of WHEN!

Keeping Your DPFs Clean & Compliant

  • Ignoring a DPF warning light or symptoms can force your vehicle into “Limp Mode,” resulting in vehicle downtime and costly roadside repairs.
  • Deleting a DPF can result in heavy fines from the Department of Transportation (DOT), render a vehicle non-compliant to drive on the road, impact resale and create liability issues.
  • DPFilterFIX will help keep your filters CLEAN & COMPLIANT
